When to go: Our clients often ask when the best time to rent a party boat is. Typically most experienced professional party boat companies follow the same schedule. This way we all arrive,tie up and turn engines off within the same 30 minute window. This ensures safety of those in the water and on the boats. We recommend booking within 30 minutes off the morning or afternoon availabilities.

Spring Rentals

Spring (March to May): The Onboard Atmosphere

Air Temperature: 50°F – 85°F

Water Temperature: 58°F – 78°F

Weather: Light to moderate winds (8-12 mph) and occasional rainfall (2.5 – 4 inches per month).

Spring is the perfect time to catch some sun while enjoying the cooler weather. 

Summer Rentals 

Summer (June to August): The Peak Boating Season

Air Temperature: 75°F – 100°F

Water Temperature: 78°F – 86°F

Weather: Consistently warm with light winds (7-12 mph) and minimal rainfall.

Summer is peak season for a reason, warm water and abundant sunshine make this time of year perfect for water activities.

Fall

Fall (September to November): The Scenic Cruise

Air Temperature: 50°F – 90°F

Water Temperature: 65°F – 80°F

Weather: Mild with calm winds and decreasing rainfall, offering crisp, comfortable days.

September and October are easily the best months to hit the lake. The water is still warm the air temp isn’t too cold yet and the lake has less recreational boaters.

Choosing a lake thats right for your group

Proximity to Austin – Lake Travis and Lake Austin are both great options for party boat rentals in Austin. Party boat charters going to Devils Cove on Lake Travis typically depart from Paradise Cove on Hudson Bend, 35-40 min away from downtown Austin. Charters going to Party Cove on lake Austin typically depart from the 360 Bridge boat ramp, 25 minutes from downtown. While Devils Cove is a bit farther its size and number of professional charter companies make it a favorite party destination. 

Group Vibe – Devils Cove is undeniably one of the largest party coves in the country. Every weekend a minimum of 50-100 charter boats bring guests to tie up and kick back. Lake Austin is great for smaller parties, the 360 party cove is a small social cove and has many recreational boaters. While Lake austin is great to bring a ski boat or smaller pontoon to tie up most of our larger bachelorette, bachelor and birthday parties chose to go to Devils Cove. 

Lake Level – Lake level does not affect our or any other profesional charter companies ability to provide services on Lake Travis or Lake Austin. There are over 100 party boats with regular schedules to Devils Cove that take groups out every weekend.

Party Boat Rental Pricing 

WakeLine Boat Rentals offers charters of party boats, pontoon boats and barge rentals with a base price starting at $150 an hour.

Base Price 

The base price depends on boat size, amenities and what day of the week you are choosing to book on. 

Hourly Minimum 

All pontoon and party boat rentals require a minimum period of 3 hours on the weak days and 4 hours on the weekends. You can add additional hours to the charter if you want to continue the fun while you are on the water. 

Captains Gratuity 

all of our rentals are captained by an experienced boat captain. We require 20% gratuity to be paid directly to the captain at the dock. 

Upfront Pricing Guarente 

We believe that pricing should be transparent and easy to understand. You will never be asked to pay anything outside of what is outlined here. 

Average Hourly Cost: On average, the hourly cost of chartering a yacht on Lake Travis can range from $200 to $500 or more, depending on the size, amenities, and luxury level of the yacht. Smaller yachts or boats may have a lower hourly rate, while larger and more luxurious yachts command a higher price.

Austin Texas is home to three major lakes all of which are fed by the Colorado River there is Lady bird lake or town lake, Lake Austin and Lake Travis.

Starnes Island

Starnes Island is a popular location for party barges to anchor. Although it can be difficult to find a spot to pull up on holidays, it is more relaxed and suitable for families compared to Devil’s Cove, which is known as the best party destination on Lake Travis.

To prepare for your party boat experience in Austin, follow these simple steps:

2. Plan to bring your own food and beverages unless you purchase them through WakeLine Boat Rentals.
3. Bring cash to tip your party boat captain.
4. Do not bring inflatables, coolers, or audio equipment as we provide all of these onboard.

Renting a party boat without a captain on Lake Travis is indeed possible, provided you meet the necessary requirements and qualifications. For most boaters it is ill advised to rent a boat on Lake Travis without a captain as it can become congested and difficult to navigate.
